Local 2617 utilizes a defined streamlined approach to reviewing and representing our union
members. We highly advise against any member of ours attempting your self-representation.
Please take full advantage of our collective experience in reviewing TSA Officer issues or
concerns and their many provided to us complaints.

Things to remember:

If you have been unfairly disciplined...please do not sign anything, regardless of what that
TSA manager has told you. Exercise your TSA policy affirmed right to bring an employee
representative in any disciplinary meeting with the TSA.

Contact this union immediately!!!

Ask our advice if you are asked to provide your TSA employer a written statement of any
kind.

How to report a member issue concern or seek union representation:

Any and all member issues of concern must be initiated by your contacting your
state's AFGE Local 2617 Vice President. They oversee our review of any and
all member issues and cases that you as a member may want to bring to our
attention.

Who assigns you a union representative Chief Steward?

Your state Vice President will assign the Chief Steward to your case, so please do not
just arbitrarily think to choose your own.

Why does the VP choose whom assists you, investigates your issue or defends you?

Because our AFGE Local 2617 Executive Board appointed Chief Stewards are not allowed
to represent you without first notifying and reporting a member issue of concern to their VP.

How the process works?

When your state VP assigns you a Chief Steward to assist you, then you will meet with
that assigned union representative. Please prepare copies of any supporting documentation
and they will get it back to your VP. More helpful...if you have scanner, scan and e-mail this
same documentation and any other we request that you provide to us so we can best
understand what your issue or complaint is.
