Welcome to A.F.G.E. District 2 Local 2617
Our Local represents federal U.S. Transportation Security Officers throughout Massachusetts
and New Hampshire. We are officially permanently chartered by the American Federation of
Government Employees, AFL-CIO. A.F.G.E. represents more than 620,000 federal employees,
most of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and more than 10,000 TSA Officers that
protect more than 400 U.S. airports nation-wide as members of more than 40 regional locals.
A.F.G.E. Local 2617 TSA Officers are tasked to defend more than 23 million clients annually
using the nation's aviation, and, other transportation industries. Nationally, A.F.G.E. TSO
union members protect more than six hundred million people a year---while using the latest
recurrent updated training federally provided by any other federal agency.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's federal TSA Officers take great pride in what
they do and love serving our country. Afterall, just like the brave members of our Armed
Forces, all of TSA's TSOs are volunteers!
We have come a long way since the days the prior days of patchworked airport to airport,
airport operator and airline private contracted screening companies. When we say thank
you TSO for joining our family...it means just that. When you join A.F.G.E., you become a
vital partner member of our larger national A.F.G.E., AFL-CIO, Massachusetts and New
Hamsphire AFL-CIO, and, our Labor Council union family of many millions of workers
seeking day-to-day equity and fairness within the American workplace.
To be a Member: If you have not joined yet, union dues for Full-Time TSOs is $15.00 bi-weekly
and for Part-Time TSOs union dues is $7.50 bi-weekly. Per the TSA HQs issued Memorandum
allowing collective bargaining, AFGE does not have to represent you if you are not a member.
